There are many repainters out there…but the renowned work of Shannon Craven at Flutterwing captures facial expression in a unique and bewitching way. I’ve admired Shannon’s celebrity work, and her fantasy art – many times, re-creating celebrity likenesses from sculpts not intentionally created to look like a particular person – that is an amazing talent in and of itself. Shannon is also currently nominated for Best One-of-a-Kind Fashion Doll Artist of the Year on Doll Observers 2015 #DOFDAs – be sure to cast your vote, if you haven’t already (Tommydoll is also nominated for Best Doll Blog!)
Shannon reached out to me after feeling moved by Lily’s story – which you can read all by clicking here. Shannon brings to us an original painted Tonner Kit sculpt (bought directly from Tonner new and unpainted) in luscious strawberry blonde hair, also styled by Craven. I’ve always marveled when an artist makes a conscientious effort to maintain the character present in a sculpt as opposed to creating an entirely different persona. Craven holds Kit’s personality true with ambitious eyes framed with a soft smoky aura – the perfect touch is added through full, rounded lips – hinting at the softest of subtle smiles. The ubiquitous maquillage color palette lends itself to both day and evening looks, and ready for your perfect dressing choices.
Thank you to Shannon Craven…and to ALL who have sent well-wishes, shared on Facebook, and participated in Lily’s cause – as a community, we’ve raised over $900 toward my niece’s $7,500 goal…and we’re getting pretty close to that total. We couldn’t have done it without you, Puddings!
